Here is a question for your legal department. Suppose a minor purchases a Codegear product. Since in most states minors cannot enter into a contractual agreement with another party and cannot not be bound to the contract by law, how does the EULA play out then? They certainly can and do purchase products from your resellers and can probably pay cash or cash equivalent for those products.

I like the Unregister idea. It is simple to track the hardware codes with the product activation. This can be used to log a re-install on the same machine rather than another activation. If that had been done, I would only have used three activations by now. And yes - I LOVE Delphi - All my friends are going the C# route, yet I choose to stay loyal and Licensed. C'mon Nick - give us some good news!

Sometimes things happen that is out of your control and I would hate to have to find myself in a situation where I can no longer use my favorite tool because of this limitation. Nick, please tell us it is untrue, and if not - do not bite the hand that feeds you!

Sorry to read that! But my advice would be:1. Take GOOD care of your machines, because you might be seeing the end of your valid installs.2. Let's bug (bug!) CodeGear until they either remove this stupid limit that in my opinion violates the EULA (I see no "five", only "reasonable number"; who decided five? For sure no one who cares for his customers, or has never upgraded/lost his/her hardware), you, me and anyone who loves (ok, even if you just like them) Borland products (I confess I love Delphi) but hates stupid limits that affect ONLY THE LEGAL BUYER, but not the illegal (I won't write it down how, but I'm sure you could find a Delphi crack faster than it takes to buy a legal copy)And anyway, I don't even want them to remove that limit. The fair move would be to have some way to UNREGISTER the copy you would not be using anymore. Is that much to ask? I hope someone who cares for his customers would read this and make something about it.

WOW! I Upgrade my hardware every 2-3 years. Server, Laptop and Desktop. I use Delphi on the Desktop and 2 laptops - one at a time. Now my new laptop crashed - requiring a format of the HDD - TWICE - it was replaced and I had to re-install Vista once on the desktop. In all I installed RAD Studio 5 times - yet it is only running on three machines - 2 which I use often and the third is a backup. That is reasonable isn't it? Does this mean I have exhausted my license since I have Registered RAD Studio 2007 Five times? If so - How do I resolve if I replace one of my machines?

"The license authorizes you to install the product on a reasonable number of machines as long as you are the only person using the product, and as long as only one instance at a time is used."First, who decided that five times is a "reasonable number of machines"? The license states that "as long as only one instance at a time is used", but because of the way the installed machines are tracked, this number could become insufficient.Let me explain: When you install your software through Internet your machine is registered as one more install. But if you happen to change your machine, that is get rid of the old one and buy a new one, then there's no way (at least I can't find one) you can uninstall/unregister the package from the old one.So, if for any reason (like it happened to me) you change your machine five times, your license is exhausted. So even if you "install the product on a reasonable number of machines as long as you are the only person using the product, and as long as only one instance at a time is used", even then you could end paying for something that you are banned to use. It's just plain unfair that you should register an installation, but there's no way you can uninstall it. As a LONG time user, I'm very upset of this. I used to think and tell that "Borland no-nonsense license agreement" was the best and user respectful, but now...As a final note: It's disappointing when you buy PHP4Delphi and find that the product is unfinished, but the copy protection is flawless. It's time you (big software developers in general) stop treating your customers like thiefs. I'm willing to pay for your tools, even when I could easily get a cracked version, because they're my tools, I make a living out of them (like a mechanic won't buy low cost chinesse wrenches)

As I said earlier: Making the EULA too restrictive and too cumbersome will force your customers to use less complicated products. Your policy on reselling of license(s) is the same as buying a car, and when I no longer need the car I have to give it back to the manufacturer, or have it destroyed. Please re-think this decision.
