You may want to try my projects "DDObjects" and "DDServer". Both of them would be nice enhancements to the Delphi RTL/VCL - a remoting framework similar to Java RMI and a Memory Profiler which has more advanced options than other similar products. Both are available on my website: www.delphi-online.at

What about the "Turbo" editions? Do you plan to offer free versions (great for students)? The last free explorer edition is now more than 2 year old and doesn't seem to be updated. I understand that best things are not free, but I would be happy (as many other) if there is a new free version with improved features.

The Delphi roadmap suits our product roadmaps and direction. All our enterprise products that use Delphi, use Datasnap. We are now looking to market these products internationally, so the unicode support is welcome. If the focus is to create the best native Win32/64 development tool, then we are with you. BTW, we also use ERStudio from Embarcadero. So, happy with that deal as well. Well done!

If you work in an enterprise environment interoperability is very important. Microsoft has solved this by embracing (and hijacking) standards such as XML and Webservice. Delph’s support for XML is dismal in comparison. If this is not dealt with properly very soon I think a lot of customers will phase out Delphi if they have not started already. Secondly, Datasnap and interoperability is also a must if it at all can be considered a serious alternativ to ado.net. Get it to work well with ado.net etc.

I see lots of complaints about stability of RAD Studio 2007. What are your intentions here? Also, a lot of ECO users are switching to VS, apparently for two main reasons: 1) stability as mentioned above and 2) C#.It seems very odd that you dropped support for the C# language. If nothing else kills you, this probably will. Why did you drop C#?

Rad Studio can be installed next to BDS 2006 and also Delphi 5,6 and 7...the problem is not with the products but with the installation of .NET - a known problem exists where if .Net 2.0 is installed before 1.1 (required by BDS) then it is not possible. However installing BDS 2006 first followed by RAD Studio does resolve this issue. The best (but long) way of getting around this is by removing RAD Studio and .Net 2.0 first, the article at http://support.codegear.com/article/37311 may help. Once uninstalled BDS can then be installed followed by RAD studio. Please contact the free support at: http://support.codegear.com if you have any problems.
