Should I install my CodeGear product on top of an existing installation?

Abstract: Information about what not to do when installing a CodeGear product when there is an existing installation (JBuilder, Delphi, C++Builder, Interbase, JDataStore, Delphi for PHP, etc.).

Question:

Is it a good idea to ever install a CodeGear product on top of an existing installation?

Answer:

Unless the installation instructions specifically suggest installing over an existing installation, do not attempt this.  Instead, it is recommended to uninstall and reinstall the product from scratch.
