Whoops, looks like I got ahead of myself! I'll edit the article, thanks David. In real life, I use a base class (in fact 3 of them) that have all of the ECO components added to the form, and headers and footers, and use that as my starting point for all new reports...

Hi Dick,Thanks for putting together this little tutorial. It is a good starting point for using Eco with XtraReports. One minor thing I note with regard to your instructions is that you just need to move the following line out of the initial code for the report constructor - and put it in later on when you talk about adding extra code to the constructor after adding the reference handle component.rhRoot.EcoSpace := FEcoSpace;

Hi Tim,XtraReports was on the D2005 Partner CD as a trial. It is available on the DevX site, but as part of the full suite download (69 MB), the DXperience for VS2002/2003 (.NET 1.1). Delphi isn't listed as supported on the full suite, because not all of the components are available for Delphi, but XtraReports is...As for 3rd party components, well, you sort of have to use one for reports, because there is no native reports in Delphi. I looked at a few and choose XtraReports because it was easy to use, it worked with ECO (or any IList datasource) and Developer Express has a good reputation. My experience with them has only ever been as a customer, no freebies, no deals and I have found their support and feedback to be exceptional...

XtraReports is neither on my Partner DVD with BDS 2006, nor available for BDS2006 on DevExpress' website (only MS VS 2002,2003,2005). This is why I never recommmend 3rd party components -- support is invariably dropped and you're stuck.
