JBuilder is dead. Peloton will be Eclipse with select features from JBuilder backported into it.Of course it's all hidden in a lot of nice statements about how it will be a major improvement but that's what it comes down to.The code editor will be the Eclipse editor, the project system a slightly modified version of the Eclipse project system, the visual designer will be the Eclipse visual designer, etc. etc.IOW, it will be Eclipse dressed up to look outwardly a tad like JBuilder. That's what the BDN radio feature states quite clearly if you can read between the lines. It's full of telling how JBuilder users will have to "transition".Well, I'd rather transition to IDEA or even Netbeans and I'd certainly rather transition to Eclipse (the free product) than to Eclipse (the commercial product which is the same as the free product but looks nicer for a few thousand Euro license fee).Guess it's time to brush up on those VI skills...

What I would like to know after reading this annoncement, is JBuilder going to stay a cross platform IDE. Eclipse is semi cross patform but some features dont work in Linux, which is always the way with native code. Is Borland going to take responsibility for the IDE working on linux or do we say goodbye to a fast Linux IDE for Java.

As all Borland statements, it is not clear. Will be JB 2006 the last built on its current technology, to be substituted by Eclipse later, or there will be two lines, that does not makes sense?Waiting for the other products roadmap - CBuilder, Delphi - to finalize *our*.
