I wholehaertedly agree. Borland, after buying version 1 through 7, why have you deserted me? Must I now start with a different language for continued w32 support, updates, bugfixes and documentation?

My D8 hangsin sime situations? while starting compilation - results in loosing code when killing the app. I hope Update1 will help, but I cannot install!!! d8_arch_upd1.exe asks for original CD, after identification install goes further to a point poping up a window asking for "a Media:" (what media isn't discribed)!!! Looking behind, in c:\temp found this: MSIbd6d5.log dated with the install-date with content:Fehler 1309.Fehler beim Lesen aus Datei: D:\Install\Temp\idapi.CNF. Systemfehler 87. Prüfen Sie, ob die Datei existiert und ob Sie Zugriff haben.=== Protokollierung angehalten: ===I think the needed "media" seems to point to CD-ROM (on my machine D:\Install\temp....) !!!!The installation can only be canceled!!!Please HELP!!!Kind RegardsWandrey

Hope your updates help. I have not been encouraged with my initial look at D8. Why did you change the format? It used to be you tried to do better than Microsoft, now you apparently prefer to imitate all their bad ideas (like the Tool Palette and MDI format, both of which are less productive than traditional Delphi format). The lack of documentation and the low quality of the new help system are especially disappointing. And, last but certainly not least, my system doesn't even work! The database objects can't connect, and Delphi itself crashed with a access error while I was simply surfing around the IDE. All this on a brand new computer. Managed code, indeed! I've been a Borland fan since Turbo Pascal 1, but if you don't fix D8, I guess I'm going to C#.

It's pity to know and therefore we are upset a little bit that there are only research and development in the given area at present. We are waiting for the results with impatience. We would be very grateful if you've given us examples of work in form_vcl for work with MSSQL database through ADO.NET.

Ok, D8 will be patched soon - good by I did not buy it, the first release ever of a Borland Pascal product I skipped.I saw activity in QC about D7 - which was almost never patched (only some minor dbExpress patch, Bold and 3rd party components - Rave and Intraweb) since it was released one year ago. ANd it is not bug free or very stable at all. When the patch will be released?
