> Why not make a Borland OS? ... I know what a huge task this would be...Few people actually realize just how big a task it is. An operating system that could challenge Windows is the work of several thousand man-hours with no guarantee - or even real expectation - of returns. No normal company is going to make that kind of investment. There are already a couple of alternatives to MS Windows out there, including Linux and BeOS. Neither of these have made a serious impression on Micro$oft's position in the market. Micro$oft is so firmly entrenched that attempting to challenge them in the OS market is, effectively, a waste of time and money.Add to the mix the up-coming palladium standard and it's simple to see that Micro$oft will continue to hold their monopoly for the forseeable future. Once palladium is introduced new computers will simply refuse to run unsigned software... and that means nightmares for you and me, and maybe an end to Linux. I'm hoping someone will stop it, truly I am.

I've been using BCB for a few years now and I've come to terms with the fact that Builder's updates are always going to be behind Delphi. The sad truth is that the market support for Builder is lacking compared to other C++ compilers. In New Zealand for example there are VERY few sites that use BCB rather than the ubiquitous VC++, even though in many cases BCB could speed development considerably. The fact of the matter is that Delphi is a much more successful product in a lot of places, and as such it is much more important economically for Borland to concentrate on that than BCB. Sad but true.

Heaventools PE Explorer feat. XP Visual Style Manifest Wizardhttp://www.heaventools.comUsing XP Visual Style Manifest Wizard, you can now incorporate Windows XP Visual Style into your application. The wizard inserts an application manifest into the resource section of the executable, allowing your legacy application to take advantage of the slick new look for common controls featured in Windows XP.After generating the manifest, the wizard inserts it into the resource section of the executable and makes the necessary adjustments to the image.

One thing sohuld be considered on Delphi about controls and borders being resized is the fact that Delphi stores the width of the form, instead of the clientwidth. By this, the size of the border affects the relation between the width of the form and the final clientwidth. If a form is set to 200x200, the clientwidth in Windows is 192x173 and in windowsxp default theme, the clientwidth is 175x149.
