This survey didn't ask the right questions or was too narrow in the choices offered. I crammed comments into fields that wanted different inputs. I hope that someone sets up a better survey.May I suggest additional memo boxes for comments? You can always have them auto-delete once I've clicked the "continue" button. That would restrict the information you review to the info you actually want and still fulfill my need to vent my opinion.

The questionaire doesn't touch the most important questions about Delphi. There are several areas where small changes to the VCL library should be made, and some features that could be added to the language. I'm thinking about the follwing things:Add the ability to register an win32 event object to a list of event objects in the TApplication object and use MsgWaitForMultipleObjectsEx in the event loop.Add better collection classes trees, maps, sets, queues, dequeue and so on in a manner that lets the developer use the collections in the same manner as TCollection.Let the 'is' operator support interfaces too.let us use 'type' as a regular symbol name when it appears inside class definitions.

I don't appreciate that the survey does not account for multi-purposed developers. I use Delphi professionally at work and personally at home. At work I create customized software for our vertical market. At home I write GPL software as a hobby.I don't feel that the survey addressed the duality of purpose that many Delphi developers have. We use Delphi at work because it is a superior tool and we like the power that it gives us. We use Delphi at home (for hobby) for the same reasons but may not even intend to make a profit from our labors (GPL, Freeware, etc). I am also a Linux enthusiast who can't affort to pay $1000 to move my hobby develpment to Linux.I hope someone actually reads these things. :)-Mark

The next to last question, "16. What is your target market?" probably could/should have been multiple choice, or at least break the question into two parts -- "What is your primary target market?", with one choice or perhaps multiple choice, and "What are your secondary target market(s)?, with one choice or perhaps multiple choice. Thanks for the survey though. It's a great to have been asked those questions. Can't wait for Kylix, not only to buy, but to actually use. :-)
