I have the real fix for Windows 2000 users. By default, Windows 2000 turns on the mouse shadow. For some reason, that screws up a lot of programs. Simply turn it off and the JBuilder's painting problems are gone. Go to Settings->Control Panel->Mouse->Pointers and Turn off the mouse shadow.

On Windows 2000 the problem can be resolved by selecting the display properties / settings / advanced / Troubleshooting, then moving the slider down one notch from the 'Full' setting. This disables cursor and bitmap accelerations, resolving all of the display update problems.Hopefully Matrox will have this fixed soon.Cheers, Jason

i've also had these problems and first tought it had to do something with jbuilder. but it appeared in every java application. and after some trial-and-error i figured out that turning of the "busmastering" in matrox options solved the problems. i'm using g400 driver version 5.12.

Matrox G400 and JBuilder 4 (Matrox's solution)

The problem aparently applies to any Java Swing application. Matrox's website has a thread dealing with the problem going back several month's at:http://forum.matrox.com/mgaforum/Forum7/HTML/000369.htmlThe fix that worked for me was to disable the "Enable pointer shadow" in the Control Panel/Mouse/Pointers dialog.

I recently upgraded from NT4.0 to Win2K and have not had problems with the Dual Head feature on the G400 Max. I did download and install Matrox's latest certified driver. 5.14.033 dated 13-sep-00 at http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/drivers/certified/home.cfm as part of the upgrade to Win2K.

You can also make the jaggies go away by uncommenting the line #vmparam -Dsun.java2d.noddrawin \Jbuilder4\bin\jdc.config. This is in the release notes. it also works for Jbuilder35.I two make two monitors run on the G400 on Win2K, they have to run at the same (worst common denominator) resolution. Since the DAC for the second head is really slow, maybe that should be horrible common denominator ;-)You can run at nice high res by adding a PCI G200 to run the second monitor. I have two IBM P260s, one running at 2048x1536 on the G400Max AGP, and the second at 1920x1440 on a G200 PCI. The second monitor was running at 2048x1536 also when I was on the original driver that came with Windows 2000.Chuck Tribolettriblet@almaden.ibm.com

With my G400 DualHead I went down to a basic mouse pointer and this seems to have fixed the issue. Note it is not just JBuilder4, I had this issue with applets, Jbuilder3, Fotre, etc.Tim
