DelphiHost became Defined.Net a while ago (WWW.Defined.Net). I've had a URL there for, I guess, 4 years now. The company I work for WWW.Panlogic.co.uk rent a dedicated server.Defined.Net provide everything you need to put your Borland generated ISAPI.dll's out in the wild, also, they provide facilities for socket applications.I thoroughly and unreservedly recommend them to any Borland Developer looking to write web based applications - or even just to mess about with the 'Internet' and 'FastNet' VCL tabs. WWW.Defined.Net will tell you more.Dan AdcockSenior Applications DeveloperDan@Panlogic.co.uk(Panlogic is not affiliated in any way to Defined)

I downloaded the example, but it asks for "WebBroker.dcu" when I try to run it (in Delphi 4.0). Is this a standardcomponent in 5.0, or something they forgot?

Hi, $15 a month is quite reasonable for a v. small business. but ALL I want to do is be able to use my programs on the web. I don't have $180 per a year to keep a web site active. All that I ask is that companies out THERE BE MORE REASONABLE, most companies in britain find that they attract more business by given something back to the community. Although I am a student, I also work at the University were I study in the Academic Information Support unit, through this I have contact with local & international companies an I quite offen get asked question about the Delphi on the Internet and Web hosting, and because I do not have first hand experience of Delphi on the internet I am unable to give them any comment. My point is, If I had experience with a Host that will allow usage of Delphi/Windows CGI I could have recommend these companies to YOUR HOSTING Services, and some of these COMPANIES WILL PAY BIG MONEY FOR A GOOD HOST.So if you offered accounts with LIMITED SPACE (10-15Mb) to the public/students you would in the end attract more customer. I realise that Storage costs money.. but it could also mean MORE AND BIGGER CUSTOMERS FOR YOU.I always recommend Delphi for Intranet development, but until circumstance change I will NOT recommend it for Internet development, An I also know that my friends and lecturers feel the same way.
Hosting CBuilder and Delphi Programs on the Web

Hi, I'm sorry but as a student who is studying A POST GRAD. Computer/Network sciences I believe I am in a position to comment on the FUTURE and DELPHI on the web. The way I see it .. it's NONE EXISTANT, why because there is NO support out there for us PROGRAMMERS. Being a student I have to live on a minimal amount of wonga (money:).. I would love to write dyanamic web pages in delphi, but I cannot WHY?? because any place that will support it charges through the roof (£25+ a month) .. Just for a Few megs worth of storage on a far off server .. GET REAL ..I know Delphi is meant for Proffesionals, well I am a professional, I have software published. It is going to be upto people like me who have to write the next generation CGI's, and DUE TO THE SHORT SITEDNESS of companies out there, this will cause a lack of properly trained people.Sorry about blowing so much steam.. but I am very annoyed, I have written some lovely CGI in delphi for my research page.. and guess.. I cannot find a host to support them (not in my budget range at at least).RegardsKelvin

Borland usually does a much better job with their examples. I would rather see a working example. If a third party wants a shameless plug into the usually reputable borland website they should at the least make aneffort to test their code/webpages before posting to the public. At the very least try to match Borlands high quality examplesBetter yet try to exceed the examples and teach us something new.Two thumbs down. Don't bother to host there if they cannot debug and maintain their own examples.IB
